Featured on several paranormal shows, and a guest favourite on Airbnb, the third floor unit is available for those brave enough to stay. This 1885 Victorian mansion, known as the Beck House is a well known feature of Penetang and one of the oldest buildings in the area.
Originally owned by lumber baron Charles Beck, his wife and 9 children, it was turned into apartments 70 years ago. His wife and two of his children died while the family lived in the home, but it is believed that up to 18 spirits live there. The Beck House is considered one of the most haunted buildings in Ontario.
The first two floors are home to permanent residents but the top floor has an apartment available for you to stay.

Awenda Provincial Park
Awenda is an amazing provincial park with over 30 km of trails, four beaches, a large dog beach, a small kettle lake, and a great Natural Heritage Education program.
This large park is located in Tiny Township on the northern tip of the Penetanguishene Peninsula of Georgian Bay. It offers well-spaced sites for tents and RVs, and one stone cottage (that’s very hard to book).
For campers looking for a quieter experience there are radio-free, generator-free, and pet-free sites. There are also electrical sites available. Each park has clean comfort stations and playgrounds in each park.
Georgian Bay Islands National Park
Georgian Bay Islands National Park is one of 5 National Parks in Ontario. Located in the world’s largest freshwater archipelago (group of islands). You can camp on Beausoleil Island, with 9 campgrounds along the north shore of the island. Access to the island is by boat only. If you don’t have a boat, boat taxis are available.
There are several camping options:
- Tent camping, bring your own gear and travel lightly!
- OTENTiks: a cross between an A-frame cabin and a prospector tent on a wooden floor. It’s a permanent shelter with beds, foam mattresses, and a living area with a table and chairs.
- Rustic waterfront Cabin Rentals – 10 small cabins, bbq kitchen and living area, some have small heaters. Pets not allowed
