The Elegant Gourmet

A chocolate shop and cafe on King Street in downtown Midland, open at the same address for more than 25 years. Belgian truffles, chocolates and fudge are all made on site in small batches.

The café side pours espresso, cappuccino and fair trade organic brewed coffee, with premium teas and a hot chocolate menu alongside. Beans, loose tea and brewing accessories are sold for anyone wanting the same cup at home.

The sweets counter runs past chocolate into freshly made fudge, baked goods, chocolate covered butter tarts and soft serve in chocolate, vanilla and swirl. Gift baskets are made up on request, and there is an online order page for pickup.

There is seating inside plus a few tables outdoors, and WiFi for anyone settling in with a laptop.

Among the independent coffee shops and cafes on King Street, this is the one that started as a chocolatier.
