Operation Grow

Operation Grow is a social enterprise in downtown Midland run under Huronia Transition Homes, designed to support women with lived experience of violence. Founded in 2015, it addresses poverty, food insecurity, social isolation, and the impacts of trauma through meaningful employment.

At its heart is an indoor hydroponic vertical farm growing fresh produce year round. The site also includes a community kitchen and yoga studio used by members to build peer relationships, confidence, and independence. A retail shop sells fresh greens, soups, salad dressings, spreads, and treats.

In 2024 Operation Grow received an Ontario Excellence in Agriculture Award in the Workforce Excellence category.
