Olde Town Library
Description
Set inside a former Andrew Carnegie library on Hugel Avenue, a block off Midland’s main street, with the original room proportions still doing most of the work. Part home decor shop, part cafe.
The stock runs to mid-century modern pieces, antiques, small furniture, vinyl records and racks of vintage and modern clothing. Nothing is laid out warehouse-style, so browsing takes as long as you let it.
The in-house café pours espresso-based drinks including lattes and cappuccinos, alongside teas and a short light lunch that has included soup, quiche and butter tarts. Seating sits among the stock rather than in a separate room, which is the point. Among the independent coffee shops and cafes in downtown Midland this is the one you go to for the building.
There is outdoor seating in season, and live music turns up on some days.
A short walk from King Street, drawing browsers from Penetanguishene, Tay and Tiny.
