Little Lake Park
Description
Little Lake Park is Midland’s largest community park, 37 hectares wrapped around Little Lake near the centre of town. It has been the town’s main gathering place for over a century and still hosts its biggest events, including Ribfest, Canada Day and the Butter Tart Festival.
The park carries an unusually full set of amenities. There is a sandy beach on the lake with water sampled weekly through the summer, two playgrounds, an 18-hole disc golf course, tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, a skatepark, a baseball diamond, an off-leash dog park, a community garden and an amphitheatre for summer concerts. Nature trails run through the grounds, and boating is allowed on the lake at low horsepower. Midland’s first public splash pad is being added in 2026.
The park is also a local heritage site, with the Huronia Museum and the Huron Ouendat Village on the grounds, on land that held Wendat villages long before the town.
