Bluewater Beach

Description

One of the five Large Water Township Parks named in Tiny’s Official Plan as the primary public access points on the western shoreline, at the foot of Trew Avenue in the south of the township. A boardwalk runs behind the sand.

Parking here is the catch. Bluewater has no Pay and Display machine, so you cannot simply arrive and pay, and the township’s non-resident permits are currently shown as sold out for 2026. Check tiny.ca before making the trip.

Bluewater is a 17.95 acre park, and roughly twelve acres of it is sand dune. The dunes are fenced and signed to keep people off, protecting a system that has been under restoration for years, so the open beach here is narrower than at the other township beaches.

Facilities are the thinnest of the five. There are portable washrooms and garbage and recycling bins, but no permanent washroom building, no playground, no picnic tables and no accessible beach access. Bring what you need.

Water is sampled through the summer by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, from June to the Labour Day weekend, with results posted publicly.

On the parking in full: permit parking runs April 15 to October 15, and Bluewater is the one beach of the five with no Pay and Display option. Non-resident permits are available only to residents of Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay and Springwater.

Tiny’s beaches are closed between midnight and 6:00am under the township parks by-law, and nothing may be left on the sand overnight.
