Balm Beach

Description

Balm Beach is the only one of Tiny Township’s five public beaches with a hamlet built up behind it, so the amenities are not just municipal. A restaurant, an ice cream counter, a variety store, an arcade, go karts, mini putt and tennis courts all sit within a short walk of the sand.

The beach itself is wide and shallow with a southern exposure. Township facilities include permanent washrooms open through the season, accessible beach access, a playground, picnic tables, portable washrooms, and garbage and recycling.

Water is sampled from June to the Labour Day weekend by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, and swim advisories are posted when bacteria levels rise after heavy rain or high winds.

Parking is Pay and Display, with permit parking also available from April 15 to October 15. Machines take coins and credit card, and the HotSpot app works at every metered machine in Tiny. Non-resident permits are limited to residents of Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay and Springwater, and the township’s permit page currently shows them sold out for 2026, so Pay and Display is the route for visitors this season.

The beach closes from midnight to 6:00am under the parks by-law, and chairs, umbrellas, tents and watercraft cannot be left overnight to reserve space.
